The First Day of June

Today’s the first day of June! Wow I can’t believe (well actually I can) a full month has gone by since I’ve been back home. It’s definitely a different vibe from being so immersed into my work and now being home away from fashion and away from the “college life”.

A couple of months back I asked the Lord to create a deeper hunger in me for Him, to grow in prayer and to give Him the time He deserves. And in this past month, with the free time with not having a job or having to attend class, I took up the opportunity to try to really grow in faith. I ordered a new book called Prayer Power: 30 Days to a Stronger Connection with God and exactly what the title says is the reason why I made a purchase. I want to walk according to the law of the Lord and seek him will all my my heart (Psalm 119:1-2). And that I understand will take time. Time that I have now.

I may not like being unemployed or feeling like a bum because I don’t have a job. But I see this “crisis or disappointment” as an indirect opportunity to grow and something that will in time become a painful blessing. And I just encourage people to pursue the hidden opportunity in each problem.

And on another note…

My nephew Benjamin should be coming this week or next. I’m hoping this week! I pray for a safe delivery and that he comes out as a beautiful healthy child. I am so excited!! Lol

Who do you believe have saved you? Happy Memorial Day!!

Today is a holiday of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Today is a day where many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. There are people who will live because men left the security they enjoyed in their home to come to serve our country.
"Today we remember 1.3 million men and women who died so we could live.  Each of them left the security of their homes to defend ours.  They paid the ultimate price for their nation and for each of us.  It's been said that the reason you've not received a bill for the freedom you enjoy today is that its price has already been paid.  Today we remember those who paid that price and pray for those they left behind. As we remember their sacrifice, let us also remember the One who gave everything for our eternal life.  Paul told the Romans, "At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:6-8). He died protecting him from certain death." -Dr. Jim Denison

I can never forget the person who sacrificed his life to save me.  I owe everything to my savior, Jesus Christ. I owe everything to the One who saved me!!

So the other night I watched Sex and the City 2 and I was blown away, well not really blown away but I was really inspired. I love a good movie or documentary that sparks some inspiration in me and this movie definitely did that. As a designer it’s always important to look at the latest trends as well as things that didn’t seem to make the hot list. But all in all I enjoyed the movie,and I'm so glad I took the time out to finally watch it. So if you haven’t seen it yet. Watch it! : )

My goal for this summer is to make at least two of these garments, of course putting my own design touch ; )

Today I read an amazing article called A Letter From a Jealous Brother by KB. And it discusses a viewpoint from a brother in Christ to a sister in Christ about singleness, what we as a women in Christ should be,and to only embrace a man that loves God more than He loves you that way we have a man that is capable to lead us spiritually. And it also just encourages young women, like myself, to aim to become the woman depicted in Proverbs 31, a woman of virtue : )

A couple of months ago my partner and I, who was also my roommate at the time, decided to participate in the annual Rock the Runway Fashion Show here at Kent State University. The challenge was that each collection had to have 3 garments, one containing a light source. Me and my partner, Michelle, were completely new at this! We had no idea how we would get a light source on our garments. But in the end we ended up just using LED lights and it turned out great. But the biggest shocker of that night was that our collection landed in the top 3! Which was a great accomplishment on our part since we were the 1st ever freshman fashion design students to have our collection in the top 3. Our collection was then critiqued. Even though my partner and I did not win, it was an unforgettable night! : )

the new beginning

Hello there a strangers. Im going to tell you a little bit about myself i'am currently a junior in highschool. I must say life is amazing even though I've really haven't even gone through half of it lol. I'm a very dedicated girl. I love everything in art, i love to draw, sketch, and some time design clothes. I do hope to major in art and design when i am in college. Im a very outgoing person, i can make people laugh and i love people that can make me laugh as well. I strive for success and not fame. I don't have to be the richest person in life, i just want to be happy and successful in everything i do. I hope to become a fashion designer but first i have to learn the basics. So far i am in level three in my fashion class that I take at school and i must say im doing pretty well. I hope i can achieve a great amount of knowledge from this course. Well theres not much i have to say except hello and goodbye.
